Battle of the Books

If you enjoy reading, this group is for you. We read 20 books, study them, and then do practice moodles until the statewide competition in February. If books are your gig-than this club is for you!

The purpose of the Environmental Alliance is to increase environmental awareness and foster the creation of an environmental ethic among the student body and/or the local community in which members reside. Environmental sustainability, agriscience, and fisheries and wildlife are subject areas to be explored by the club. A variety of strategies will be used for not only educating club members, but the RVA High School student body as well.
Discussions, guest speakers, field trips, activity period announcements, and Earth Week activities will all be used to meet the club's objectives as well as those developed by the club throughout the year.

The National Honor Society membership is based upon a student's outstanding performance in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Students eligible for the Rural Virtual Academy National Honor Society must meet the following criteria:
• Earn a cumulative 3.5 GPA at the end of the first semester of their Junior or Senior year.
• Demonstrate positive character, leadership, and citizenship.

The RVA Weekly is a newspaper club run by students who work together with the club advisor to create a publication each month. We use websites like Google Docs, Canva, and more to write articles and create a virtual newsletter that is sent out to the entire high school once a month.

RVA Speech and Drama is a competitive team for students in high school who are interested in public speaking and drama. The RVA Speech and Drama Team builds communication skills, confidence, and establishes strong peer relationships with other students in the RVA.

The goal of the student council is to be an example as well as a voice for the RVA Student Body. Addressing problems as well as suggesting and enacting improvements shall always be a goal of the organization. Helping to organize and run events that help build the community is also a responsibility.

Act fast for the ACT Club

Through preparation, students have a better chance of receiving a high score on the ACT which can help them get accepted into college, have more scholarship opportunities, and better understand the subject. At each meeting, we will focus on different parts of the test (pre-algebra, intermediate algebra, geometry, and trigonometry questions). We will use Kahoot to facilitate conversation, followed by a quick debrief after each question. We will also discuss test strategies, calculator usage, and methods to beat the clock.

It’s going to be exactly as it sounds…:) Let’s get creative! The RVA student body is so talented and the ways students create have impressed me over the years. In this club, we will share our creations, learn about new ways to create, and possibly even exchange items in the mail! Examples include jewelry making, DIY room decor, candle making, soaps, sand art, chalk, painting styles, woodworking, 3D Printing, digital art, etc. If you are always looking for new ways to create things, this club is for you!

This club offers you the opportunity to meet people who have the same interests as you (skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, tubing, etc.). Let’s get together and talk about everything fun outdoors during the winter months! Come and share your favorite ski hill memories, tips and tricks for perfecting your skills on the hill, or just hang out and talk about fun outdoor winter activities!

Have you ever dreamed of being a singer? Want lessons that help you sing individually as opposed to choral singing? In this club we’ll watch videos created by vocal coach expert Cheryl Porter and be provided vocal warmups, exercises, and cooldowns to practice on your own throughout the week. Mics will be muted as you sing along with the video exercises so no need to worry about performance anxiety! Attend weekly and by the end of the school year, you’ll be a vocal expert!
